What is stem opt?

STEM OPT (Optional Practical Training) is a program offered by the United States government that provides an extension of post-completion practical training for students pursuing degrees in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The program allows eligible students to work for up to 24 months in the US after completing their degree. To be eligible for STEM OPT, the student must have completed a degree in a STEM field from an accredited institution, and the employer must be enrolled in the E-Verify program. Furthermore, the student must apply for and receive an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) from the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). During the STEM OPT period, the student must also report any changes in their employment or address to their designated school official. STEM OPT provides valuable work experience and opportunities for international students to apply their knowledge in the US job market.
